The fires in the Amazon forest have been making the world's headlines over the past few weeks.
This year, some 79,500 fires were recorded in the region.
LVMH Group, who owns some of the largest high-end luxury and fashion brands, released a statement on their website announcing their intention to donate 10 million euros to fight the ongoing fires. This initiative comes just after the G7 summit’s decision to come to Brazil’s aid, pledging €20 million to help fight the fires. These emergency funds are supposed to be used for fire-fighting planes.
Previously, LVMH donated €200 million for the restauration of Notre Dame Cathedral, which went up in flames in April this year.
As yet, it is unclear whether the Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro, will accept the aid from LVMH.

Good initiative but this won't solve the problem. we need to solve the problem at it's root that is Soja growing in tropical regions for meat production which is caused by meat consumption in rich countries.
Even if brazil is burning the culprits are us and our excessive meat ( beef and pork) consumption.
To a lesser extent trump trade war plays a role because it shifted some soja production for chinese consumers from the US to brazil ...
A good start would be to HEAVILY tax our meat consumption and stop free trade of agricultural goods with brazil.
but of course no politicians will vote for this as this would be highly unpopular. So the root cause of all this is our overconsumption of meat and our unwillingness to change. :/ Sad story of self-destruction.
