November 6 - May 26, 2018
For more than 15 years, the Bibliothèque d'art et d'archéologie (BAA) in Geneva has been collecting handmade and hand-decorated art books created and manufactured in Vaud, as well as original and creative work from publishing houses, editors, and printers.
In a new exhibition the BAA presents and documents the creative journey of a number of arthouse publishers from Vaud including:
- The Art & Fiction Editions (Lausanne) founded in 2000 by Stéphane Fretz and Christian Pellet. Their objective is to produce and publish books from the French-speaking Switzerland.
- Couleurs d'encre (Lausanne) a publishing house created in 2003, which links painters and engravers with writers and poets.
- The Ripopée (Nyon) was founded in 2008 by Jessica Vaucher and Stéphanie Pfister, to publish notepads and art books.
- The Cadratin (Vevey) founded in 1988 by Jean-Renaud Dagon who is a printer with the desire to honor the traditional craft that he learnt as an apprentice before technology stepped in.
Several artists are also presented at the exhibition, such as Claire Nicole, an engraver and painter from Switzerland and Fabienne Samson, an artist and photographer.
