The University of Sant Gallen and the HES of Lausanne have received mixed news in ‘The 2013 Masters in Management’ ranking published by The Financial Times.
The Sant Gallen University appears at the top of the list of ‘Masters in Management’ thanks especially to the criteria of value for money and objectives achieved, but also for the good career service and international exposure it offers to its students. The Masters offered by HES Lausanne is also ranked among the top 30, though it has lost four places when compared to the previous ranking.
The list is an assessment based on data provided by 80 schools and their alumni associations from around the world and includes several criteria. The Masters must be internationally accredited and must provide courses designed for students that have no or limited work experience. The ranking includes several factors, among them “salary today”, "international mobility”, "placement success" as well as others such as cost and length of course, gender equality, etc.
While the list helps to summarize the wide range of criteria set by the Financial Times, the choice of the Masters, as several experts recommend, needs to be made based on the accurate evaluation of programs and opportunities that each school offers.
Most students, after one or two years of program and according to the length of their Masters, decide to embrace a job abroad, far from their home country. The main destinations outside Europe are the US, India, Singapore, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.
